DJs, bands, burlesque-inspired interiors and a killer beer garden all come together to give this place loads of oomph and serious cred.
Here's a quick history lesson for all you folks out there. This pub first started trading way back in 1900 under Sir Arthur Toynbee, a geezer who definitely loved his beer and music. Fast forward more than 100 years and apparently so too do the new owners of Electric Light.
Throughout its colourful history, this boozer has undergone various name changes, from the East End Exchange to The Producers and Woodsman's Inn to name a few. But now it comes to you in a new 'light'. Ahem, an electric one, that is.
Having undergone a brief renovation, this place now looks more than a little bit like an old-fashioned burlesque-inspired movie set. Scan your eyes over the generously high ceilings, the huge velour chairs with gold trimmings, the grand fireplace and the crazy orange-wired chandeliers. Random paintings add an edgy note and service bars in various corners keep the drinks flowing.
Evidently, all five rooms have been assembled with the punter in mind, ensuring they never miss a piece of the action. Three of the rooms feature DJs and four of them have bars.
Outside, the colossal beer garden (with yes - another service bar) is a natural summer hang-out space. It features a stage and plenty of seating for dining and drinking.
