Much like the glossy Westfield shopping centre it's latched onto, this multi-level art deco pub is trendy, opulent and well-heeled.
This recently renovated art deco hotel is latched onto one side of Westfield's Bondi Junction Plaza. Art deco design features throughout the building, right down to the fire hose reel that sits behind some mosaic-inspired woodwork. There are plenty of standard tap beers to choose from, as well as a range of imports like Asahi, Tiger and Amstel - all of which can be enjoyed on comfy couches or while watching the footy downstairs.
If sport and beer isn't your thing, you might fancy gaping at expensive-looking decorative features upstairs, while deciding between a Cloudy Bay sav blanc or a Coldstream pinot noir. Mojitos, caprioskas and daiquiris are an option for those with tired, post-shopping jelly legs; and there are some romantic booths and couches fit for a first date. The sophisticated pub food on offer includes gourmet pizzas, fresh salads, seafood and big beefy burgers.
But the real fun at the Eastern comes on Wednesday nights, when the pub turns club, serving up some smashing electro beats, a bit of hip hop and loads of glam kids. At the end of the day, The Eastern is much like the adjoining shopping centre - trendy, opulent and well-dressed.
