This club attracts a young, beautiful party crowd after midnight. Door entry can be tight. Step onto the heaving dance floor or dip into a shadowy lounge nook.
Sneak down a back alley in your designer outfit and discover this little club which has a strict door policy and rock-hard bouncers. Yes, it can sometimes be difficult to get in. But who can resist joining the good-looking queue that forms in front of an old movie theatre facade?
Dragonfly is located in a dark little street around the back of Kings Cross train station. Just look for the line of well-dressed young things and the red letters of the club's name. Step down into what could well be Batman's cave - if he was a party boy and had his place decorated by Hugh Hefner.
Intimate nooks are created by wooden slat partitions. These areas are usually reserved by groups of girls relaxing their stilettoed feet as they watch the dance floor hoardes. Slate walls and kooky chandeliers add to the scene. The square bar made of gleaming white rock dominates the centre of the room.
A little advice; Don't get there early. Guests only venture to Dragonfly after midnight and they often face a cover charge of $20. DJs deliver a mix of beat-heavy house tunes that whittle away the night and lead you into the next day with a dragonfly stamp hovering on your wrist.
We booked Dragonfly VIP area for my 21st, and we weren't allowed in. If you're planning to go there with males (or if you are male), make sure there is 2 girls to every guy, otherwise you won't be allowed in. They will also find any reason to refuse entry. One of my friends wasn't allowed in because he had blonde hair streaks. Another wasn't allowed in because he had a small visible tattoo. I reccommend not going there at all. Unless you're a group of skinny girls in mini skirts, you won't be allowed in.
