The old Tattersalls Hotel has had a facelift, the new resident adding some funky style to the old girl with a slick look and live music.
Curly's Bar is one of Hobart's newest lounge bars in one of the city's oldest buildings - the Tattersalls Hotel. Opening at 11am, Curly's begins the day as a restaurant and then transforms itself, Optimus Prime-style, into one of the most popular nightclubs in Hobart.
Curly's is committed to local music and hosts neighbourhood bands on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Wednesdays are committed to live funk and jazz, while hip hop and dance music features on Fridays and Saturdays, with the line-up including some smoldering national and international acts.
With a large open beer garden out the back catering to smokers and super-comfortable couches for chilling out, Curly's is as well equipped for lazy lounging as for rocking out on the dance floor. To aid in the former endeavour, there's a large selection of beers on tap, a generous range of boutique Australian beers and imports, as well as plenty of cocktails and wines available. For the ultimate accompaniment to a cold beer in the garden, there are thin and thick-crust pizzas among other nibbles on the menu.
Curly's fills a void in Hobart's nightlife, turning an old favourite into a slick space.
