This pub plays up to its rock-solid reputation as a rugby union-loving clubhouse. Expect a loud, jam-packed crowd whenever a big match is on.
Coopers Alehouse is Adelaide's unofficial spiritual home for rugby supporters and, of course, the official home for Coopers beer. Expect a timber bar, a frosty row of ice-covered taps and plenty of Coopers at the ready. There are also retro cube-style couches and footstools designed for kicking back, as well as TV screens for catching live sports action. The growing popularity of rugby union in South Australia means that there's barely any standing room in the Coopers Alehouse during international matches, the Tri Nations series and the Super 14 season. But who really cares when you're rubbing shoulders with other like-minded sports nuts and spilling beer together with excitement when a try is scored? Everything about the Coopers Alehouse revolves around celebrating rugby while taking a world-tour of beer, beer and more beer. Aside from the expected Coopers range on tap, there's also plenty of Guinness and Stella Artois. In addition, St Arnou Pilsner is given pride of place amongst the draught taps, catering to those drinkers who fancy microbrewery ale. Such a range could make choosing a beer difficult for many consumers, but luckily the clued-in bartenders take pride in their profession, and they know more about beer than most people have forgotten.
Really cannot recommend this place highly enough. Without doubt, always have an excellent time at the Earl. Where to start? Fab atmosphere, brilliant helpful staff and the food is simply second to none... at great value. The awesome menu (the schnitzels totally the best we ve tasted in Adelaide, and freshest tastiest pizzas from the woodfired ovens are a must) is matched perfectly by a top range of Coopers beers, a carefully-selected wine list and friendly bar staff. There are so many experiences to share at this place - whether it be a Sunday lunch, celebratory dinner, after work drinks, or even weekend beers with your mates while watching live rugby and soccer on the big screen TVs in the bar. The Earl Of Aberdeen really does have something on offer for everyone! 5 stars.
