Can sake pave the way to inner peace? Served both hot and cold here, find out if it chills you out or gets you hot-to-trot.
Feel the serenity at Cocoro, where soft lighting and calm music will soothe your 'mind, heart and spirit'. By day the sun lends a soft glow to the Japanese-inspired space, but as evening falls Cocoro sheds its white gloves to reveal a smart bar that's a bit on the sexy side.
Under the flicker of tea-light candles you can order chilled or warmed house sake or - if you're a bit of a sake connoisseur and have a favourite in mind - you can go for a particular brand, such as Bishonen, Kubota or Otokoyama. If you like a bit more punch to your drink, try a lemon, grapefruit or peach shochu cocktail, or a Japanese spirit served on the rocks. For something softer try Asahi super dry, Kirin beer or select from a lovely list of local wines.
Artistic Japanese potters are responsible for the shelves of glossy post-kiln creations that decorate the walls of Cocoro; if you order something to eat you'll find your meal served up in one such clay dish. Warm, cheerful service coupled with the calm ambience makes Cocoro a relaxed, even romantic, spot for a Japanese-style drink and/or eats.
