Over the years, The Claremont has changed its name and its facade more times than we'd like to remember, but a fairly recent refurbishment has cemented its position as one of the most stylish bars in the district. Decked out with an eclectic and contemporary look, it sports high, ornate ceilings, mod lighting, dark leather booths and plenty of wooden trimmings.
A popular haunt among the young and beautiful, this bar attracts aspiring Don Juans with its Wednesday night salsa classes upstairs. There are also live acoustic band performances held downstairs on Friday nights and Sundays. Many people come here to sit on the balcony and quench their thirst while watching the people passing by. Thursday night is a very popular event at this venue, as the hip Claremont crowd sips cocktails, plays pool and soaks up DJ sounds before heading off to the nightclub down the road at closing time.
The drinks menu is extensive and the bar staff will often put a twist on the new and varied styles of cocktails on offer. Try the apple strudel martini: it melds Absolut Vanilla, apple schnapps, cloudy apple juice and is served with a pinch of cinnamon.
