You'd better check yourself before you check in, because without the right set of threads, your night might end at the door.
Cargo's upper deck is set away from the crowds in the main bar, a chic older sister to the party girl downstairs. The two floors are marketed to different crowds, with an emphasis on a relaxed cocktail bar experience upstairs. Don't be surprised to arrive and find members-only admission late on a Friday or Saturday night, or to find the venue booked out for a one-off dance party or PR event.
It's wise to dress to impress if you want to make it through the entrance; the Lounge's door staff are notoriously picky, particularly on weekend nights after 10pm. Grey leather banquettes sit back-to-back throughout the upper deck room, with dark wood veneer panelling and bright red foot stools adding interest to the bar's smoky interior. House music dominates the scene.
Their extensive list of competitively priced tipples includes such cocktails as Them Apples (caramelised apple and pear nectar with Bison Grass vodka and apple liqueur) and In Like Gin (Bombay Sapphire, ginger and lychee liqueur, pink grapefruit juice and mint). Cigars are a feature, with a selection that includes perennial Cuban favourites like the Montecristo No.4 and the Romeo y Julieta No.3.
