Come to this lounge bar if you fancy live music and lazy sofa sessions, televised sport, Scrabble, martinis, pizza or chilli con carne.
This cute little city-fringe bar on Caxton Street attracts people of all ages who love old-school party tunes and retro hits from the '70s and '80s. The dress code is relaxed and the entertainment is often live.
Look around and you'll spot crimson lanterns dangling from above and a trippy feature wall that's utterly psychedelic (you could get lost in those wiggly pink, red, orange and yellow lines). Glittering disco balls give the bar an extra dose of pizzazz and multicoloured liquor bottles glow across the bar area, offset against a sunset-toned orange background which can almost trick guests into feeling like they're perpetually drinking sun-downers. For an added dose of glamour, drinkers can indulge in a little martini action, a speciality of the house.
During the afternoon, serious faces concentrate over chess boards while university blow-ins giggle over games of swear-word Scrabble. After dark, the bar frequently throbs to old favourites selected from the jukebox.
On Thursday nights, middle-aged rockers lounge around on the bright orange sofas, nibbling on cheese plate snacks while the Barry White-style Wiley Reed performs live. Other guests listen from outdoors while devouring house-made chilli con carne and Calypso pizzas (topped with leg ham, pepperoni, red onion, olives, mushrooms, red peppers and mozzarella cheese). On Friday nights the Funken Blues band plays takes over the live entertainment, keeping it loud.
