With spectacular harbour views and inventive cocktails, this cafe showcases the best of what the cosmopolitan city has to offer.
While the building may be historic, this bar is anything but old hat. The top floor of Customs House is a modern bar and restaurant filled with fashionable decor and very fashionable customers. After exiting the elevator you are greeted by staff who will show you to your table should you be there for a meal, or direct you to the nearest bar lounge. Black sofas facing the bar are cosy and intimate, while a large open area, filled with natural light, is dotted with low wicker couches and tables that are perfect for groups.
There is a gourmet bar menu filled with seafood and dips, while the cocktail list is long without being overwhelming, and with ingredients as exotic as kaffir leaves and gingembre liqueur, it would be a shame not to try one. An extensive wine list is also available if you are keen to share a bottle or two. Soft tunes hum throughout the bar, which has a truly worldly feel. Looking out at the harbour and up at the Sydney skyline, it is easy to see why this bar is considered a cut above the rest.
