Relaxed brekky cafe by day, arty vino hub by night. Be sure to slink through to the beer garden - it's a jungle out there.
Buzzbar is one of those thank-the-lord establishments that - though it's nestled smack-bang in the middle of Newtown's King Street - somehow makes you feel like you could be south of the border in Melbourne. If you're not paying attention as you walk along the street dodging the hippies, goths and general mayhem, you could miss the entrance entirely. But once inside, Buzzbar opens up and you'll wonder how they managed to fit a jungle inside.
Okay, so it might not be a jungle; but meander through the main dining area of the front cafe section and you'll find a quaint leafy spin on the average beer garden out the back - a true testament to the creativity inner Sydneysiders have when it comes to utilising space.
By day this is a relaxed place to get the 2pm brekky you rolled out of bed for (may I suggest the olive tapenade sandwich?). By night however, Buzzbar becomes a haven for all those creative types that make Newtown the arty-hub it is. Regular exhibitions ensure the walls are never bare and local nu-jazz outfits (such as amalgamations of Hermitude, The Bird and B'dussy) will use any excuse to move the couches away and wheel in the drum kit.
