This grand pub changed hands in 2010 and they now offer backpacker accommodation in the heart of Hobart. Still sporting the gorgeous sandstone interiors and old-style fixtures, it's the fabulous new bistro that now takes centre stage.
Listed as Australia's second oldest pub, this fit out is very new and gives credit to the historic nature of the place. The old sandstone of ~1827 has been brought to life and with the second longest Chesterfield couch and open fire place it now has a good ambience - potentially even better in winter. The afterwork crowd is consistent and whilst no real cocktail menu they have 8 beers on tap and the usual offering which makes for a fun night out. Nick Balcombe was playing when we were there and people were dancing by the bar. Would go again for sure and might become a regular! Here is there website www.brunswickhotelhobart.com.au
