Whether you're after a laugh, a feed, a night out or a quiet catch-up beer with mates, this pub for the everyman somehow manages to fit it all under one roof.
While the humble folks at this recently renovated establishment may insist they are simply a pub, they certainly have more to offer than your average watering hole. Heralded as Australia's new hotel of the year in 2005 and hotel of the year in 2006 at the National Bartender Awards, the Brisbane Hotel is still just known as 'the local' to regulars who converge there for Friday post-work drinks.
While offering a wide range of local draught beers, the premium drop is a point of pride, with the Brisbane Hotel being the first pub in Australia to offer Asahi on tap. The wine list wears its flag-waving commitment to the homeland on its sleeve with Western Australian plonk featuring heavily.
Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays see DJs on hand, pumping out lounge, house and the odd retro track to keep the '80s fans happy. If the nightclub scene isn't your thing, head upstairs where you'll find the Lazy Susan's Comedy Den.
If the laughs and bevvies weren't enough to draw you in, the bistro offers more than your run-of-the-mill pub grub, with head chef Anthony Schell serving up modern Australian cuisine prepared with local WA produce.
