Blues and rock rule at this Northbridge joint. Thursday nights allow amateurs to take to the stage and show the crowd their musical talents - or their misguided confidence.
Blue to the Bone is Australian to the core. Laidback, upbeat and down-to-earth, this place prides itself on showcasing loud Aussie music and plenty of sports memorabilia. More curiously, it also possesses a strange collection of animal skulls. All the music here is live, so lovers of the blues can come here for all their foot-tapping and shoe-stomping. When this place isn't playing host to touring bands and solo artists, it lets its in-house band pump out blues and late-night sessions of blasting rock. On Thursday night, the audience gains the chance to entertain. Bring along your singing voice or an instrument, take to the stage and do whatever comes naturally. The band can accompany you, as long as you're brave enough to step into spotlight and agree to sing one of the hits on the list. The bar provides plenty of Dutch courage too, in the form of a good selection of beers and wines, accompanied by traditional Aussie bar snacks including nuts, jerky and potato wedges. You can even get yourself a caffeine fix to keep you buzzing into the wee hours.
