Don't be fooled by the name. Bimbo is actually a rather clever destination. Sneak upstairs for rooftop drinks at sunset or give in to the evil aroma of serious pizza.
Keep your eyes on the Brunswick Street rooftops as you stroll down the bohemian strip and you'll spot a giant-sized inflatable baby, illuminated from within and suspended from the tip of Bimbo's pub wall.
Inside, the wall tops are decorated with a crowd of empty bottles that serve as candy-coloured lights at night. They'll lead you to the all-important blackboard above the kitchen window, which is used to list the pizzas of the day. Pick up a simple napoletana or, if you're a cheese lover, try the Taleggio or gorgonzola options.
Bottle and tap beers are the popular choice for Bimbo's pizza eaters. Dessert pizzas come next. There are chocolate, apple and banana options to consider, although not many can fit in more than a small size.
Head upstairs to the rooftop if you want to sip your beer alfresco. Watching the sun set on a balmy Melbourne evening is never as sweet as when you have chocolate running down your chin and smudged across your fingertips.
