Don't be put off by the shiny red pit bull terrier perched on the bar. This is actually a really inviting bar, decked out in appealing oriental-style decor.
Step off the elevator on the third floor of The Eastern and you'll be greeted by a decadently lit village of wick-dripping candlesticks - an inviting entrance to a cocktail arena you wouldn't have otherwise known existed. Bar Pacifica's oriental-style decor lends the space a fuzzy-warm feel. Its thematic red hue is reflected in eclectic lighting fixtures, plush tactile cushions and comfortable red bar stools - all with views to a starlit sky. Though it's hard to avoid looking at the large luminous pit bull sculpture perched territorially on the end of bar.
The cocktail list is fresh - like its surrounds - echoing the dictum 'keep it simple'. Vanilla vodka and frangelico are combined to create 'Frangelina'; and cranberries, apple, bitters and vodka make up the traditional 'Chesterfield'. If your appetite is wet for a killing, you can choose from a selection of tasting plates.
A welcome alternative to the schooners and wedges available around the corner, Bar Pacifica combines the ambience of a kickback local with the aesthetics of a smooth inner city establishment. It's an ideal place to meet for a few cheeky ones and converse without having to contend with thumping beats or a smoky haze. Far from being an extension of Westfield, Bar Pacifica is deserving of a 'drop in and stay a while'.
