This slice of the Mediterranean hiding in Little Collins Street is soothing hearts with its grappa collection.
The top end of town is no longer exclusively Parisian, with a number of well-established continental European restaurants and bars now firmly holding court in the region.
Bar Lourinha is the newest addition to this multicultural set, sneaking in the back door and setting up shop in Little Collins Street. Bar Lourinha is a wine bar that brings back memories of languid Barcelona afternoons and sprightly evenings in Italy.
High ceilings, white walls and crisp decor paint a Mediterranean backdrop that's immediately welcoming and relaxing. Grab the prized couches in the big windows at the front and order a glass of exotic European-style aperitif and some small plates to share. Try the signature yellowtail kingfish 'pancetta'.
Those settling for a bottle will be spoilt for choice with more than twenty options of both red and white available, predominantly sourced from Italy and Spain. Try not to ignore the interesting spirits though (ask for advice!) including the proud owners' collection of grappa - try one to rev up your Vespa.
Bar Lourinha is a popular after work spot, but is great for a relaxed tipple as well. The crowd is as varied as the drinks list and has a friendly and mellow vibe.
