A linchpin of the music scene, this pub showcases live rock and indie talents. Tuesdays feature rock'n'roll trivia (with musos playing the clues).
The Annandale is arguably one of the best places in Sydney to catch fledgling local acts as well as high-profile Aussie bands and touring international talent. Some big names to have previously hit the stage here include Dallas Crane, Magic Dirt, Frenzal Rhomb, Machine Gun Fellatio, The Living End, Youth Group, The Spazzys, Butthole Surfers, Turbo Negro, Death Cab For Cutie and Nashville Pussy.
The regular crowd is made up of gig lovers, booze hounds, skint uni students and 'burb locals kicking back and chugging VBs. Forget dress codes or door-bitch snobbery. The Annandale embraces everything from dyed hair to tie-dyed tees, dreadlocks, tatts, piercings, op-shop styling - and pretty much everything else.
Venture into the beer garden, order some Thai food or explore the cocktail list. Otherwise, amuse yourself and your mates with some pool, ping pong or Scrabble.
Expect cult movie screenings on Mondays, rock'n'roll trivia on Tuesdays and pub markets (selling clothes, knick knacks and vintage vinyl records) on the third Saturday of every month.
The 'Weekend Porch Sessions' feature DJs, but take your MP3 player along and they may just let you share your fave tunes with the lounging punters.
