Anyone looking to impress on that first date with their wine knowledge and upper class manners could not do much better than Amphoras, a swanky West Perth wine bar.
Named after a type of Greek vase used for storing wine, Amphoras is a venue that takes the vino very seriously indeed, offering 22 wines by the glass and even more by the bottle. With such an impressive wine list and a number of cocktails on offer, Amphoras has everyone from the casual tippler to the snobby connoisseur covered.
Established in November 2007, Amphoras is at the forefront of the small bar scene that took so long to reach Perth. Featuring a small dining area that serves an array of tapas meals, and a discreet bar where you can savour the wine, Amphoras is the very definition of intimate. The bar staff are few but they certainly know their stuff, so don't be shy to ask for recommendations.
As the bar is located in West Perth, close to the CBD, don't be surprised to find yourself rubbing shoulders with the high-powered set. Luckily however, the extravagance of the location is not matched by extravagant prices. Most of the wine is reasonably priced, meaning you can impress your date without blowing the budget.
