Capturing the atmosphere of The Chifley hotel, this elegant CBD venue is a masterful cocktail of a chic bar and a laidback watering-hole.
Dwarfed by the towering skyscrapers of Perth's CBD, The Chifley is the city's only true boutique hotel. It claims to have the best address in the city, and if you take a seat on the open-air balcony overlooking St George's Terrace, you'll agree such a bold statement is justified. It's arguably one of the best people-watching spots in Perth.
Ultra-chic meets contemporary-funky in the interior design of the185 Bar & Restaurant. The vibe is relaxed and sophisticated, with a selection of abstract artworks by Ian Baraclough complementing the bar's contemporary earthy tones and acting as an interesting conversation starter.
Nine-to-fivers congregate in their lunch breaks, digging into a menu that serves up classic beef, chicken and fish dishes, along with venison. As the sun goes down, colleagues sip the selection of wines on offer and continue nibbling into the night.
There's an extensive collection of local stars behind the bar - including WA's Gage Roads' Pure Malt Lager, and fine wines by Brad of Margaret River. The fruity cocktail menu is also worthy of note, all masterfully mixed by Adam Keane, a former runner-up in the mixology category of the Suntory Cup.
Although this venue is dwarfed in stature, its buzzing energy radiates large into the streets of Perth's CBD.
